Clinical study “Effects of Intensive Neurophysiological Rehabilitation System in Children with Cerebral Palsy”.

In the fall of 2019, we are going to start a randomized controlled clinical trial, “Effects of Intensive Neurophysiological Rehabilitation System in Children with Cerebral Palsy”.

It aims to determine the effects of the Intensive Neurophysiological Rehabilitation System (INRS), also known as Professor Kozyavkin Method, on the development of children's functional abilities, including gross motor functions, hand dexterity, self-care skills and movement abilities.

This research will be conducted by the Rehabilitation Center “Elita” together with the Department of Medical Rehabilitation of Ternopil State Medical University, Kozyavkin International Rehabilitation Clinic, and with the support of the German charitable foundation “Rainbow Kids e.v”.

The study participants will be assessed three times at the Elite Rehabilitation Center and will undergo an INRS treatment course at Kozyavkin International Rehabilitation Clinic. All children will be randomly assigned to the experimental or control group. Children from the experimental group will undergo treatment next week after the first assessment while from the control group - a week after the second assessment. The second assessment will be conducted three weeks after the first assessment, and the third assessment - four weeks after the second one.

The study will include the following assessments: Gross Motor Function Measurement -66, ABILHAND-Kids Hand Function Questionnaire, self-care and mobility domains of PEDI Inventory, Jebsen-Taylor hand function test, Box and Blocks test, measurement of passive range of ankle dorsiflexion.

We invite to participate in the study patients diagnosed with cerebral palsy, spastic forms, bilateral impairments, ages 4-12 from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions.

The benefits of participation include the opportunity to contribute to the development of rehabilitation of cerebral palsy, and conducting additional assessments for the child using modern techniques. The cost of three additional visits to RC “Elita” will be compensated and the participants will receive valuable gifts.

The study is registered in the International Clinical Trials Registry: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04093180
